TOO MUCH POLITICS

This week marked the beginning of the hearing of the presidential election petition. The petition filed by Coalition For Reforms and Development(CORD)challenges the announcement of Uhuru Kenyatta as the president elect in the March 4TH election. The Supreme Court of Kenya, consisting of 6 judges is mandated with hearing the petition and making a ruling.

The court could make a ruling that dismisses the petition and hold Uhuru's election valid or order a fresh election. It could also declare that he did not attain the mandatory 50% plus 1 vote and order a re-run of the two leading candidates. If this happens, the country's politics will drag on to June 30TH.
For most Kenyans, this is not something they look forward to.Politics have been in the headlines practically every day of the week and most people are done."i prefer to watch a summary of the petition in the news rather than follow it live."Evelyne Njogu,a university student said.
Kenyans from all walks of life long for the day when the ruling will be made, and justice served.
